Who we are, what we stand for, and the rules we work under
Jonogoner Kotha is an independent platform for the ordinary people of Bangladesh. Politics, prices, education, safety: the matters that touch daily life are where citizens say what they think, in their own language, and where others read, like and reply.
We are not a news outlet and we speak for no organisation. We are a civic initiative with one aim: that the words of ordinary Bangladeshis can be heard in a safe, clean place. A student in Dhaka and a migrant worker abroad carry the same weight here.
Jonogoner Kotha is not affiliated with any political party, alliance or candidate, and takes no money or direction from any of them. We do not speak for the government, the opposition or any institution; we are the place where the public speaks for itself. Every opinion is reviewed to the same standard, whatever the writer's politics.
We operate under the Constitution and the laws of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, including the Personal Data Protection Act, 2026 and the Cyber Security Act, 2026. Article 39 protects speech and also sets its limits, and Article 43 protects the privacy of correspondence. Defamation, hate, incitement, and publishing someone's private information have no place here. The privacy policy, the cookie notice, the terms and the guidelines are the pages that spell this out.
A moderator reads every opinion before it is published, usually within a few hours. Every decision comes with a reason, you can edit and resubmit, and every action is logged. Moderators never change your meaning; at most they remove the part that breaks a rule and say so.
Signing in exists only for accountability; on every opinion you choose whether your name or photo appears. Your email is never shown to anyone, IP addresses are kept for at most 90 days, and you can delete your account at any time.
